How to Apply

The City of Lake Stevens is always looking for the best to represent and serve our city. If you think that is you, we want to know!

Application Process

Check out the Job Opportunities (link) page to see if there’s a match to your skills and expertise.

We are working hard to streamline this process so please remember: paper applications will not be accepted – all applications must be completed and submitted through GovJobs Today to be considered.

Equal Employment Opportunity

The City of Lake Stevens values a diverse workforce. It is the policy of the City to provide equal opportunity to all persons seeking or having access to its employment, services and activities, which is free from restriction based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation or disability, or any other basis prohibited by federal, state, or local law.

Reasonable Accommodation

There are no limitations on who is best fit to serve this community. If we call you in for an interview and you need specific accommodations – please let us know! We are happy to make the arrangements. We’ll need to know ten (10) days in advance to make sure we get you situated but a call in to the Human Resources department will do the trick: 425-377-3227. You are also welcome to mail in the request.

Pre-Employment & Background Checks

Most positions these days require background checks – the City is no different.

Job offers for employment for certain physically demanding positions will be conditioned on satisfactory results of a post-offer medical examination or inquiry. Background checks are conducted on all applicants who are selected to continue in the post-offer process.

Notification of Selection Process

We want to be sure you’re in the loop, whether or not you’ve been selected for the position.

Once a position has closed, all applicants will be notified in writing within 30 days if they are or are not invited to continue in the selection process. If you have not received notification of your status, please contact Human Resources at (425) 377-3227.

1986 Federal Immigration Reform and Control Act

All employers are required to verify and document the citizenship or employment authorization status of all new employees. If hired, you will be required to provide proof of US Citizenship, permanent resident status or employment authorization, and proof of identity. The law prohibits the hiring and/or continued employment of unauthorized aliens.
