School Resource Officers
Through education and enforcement and by cooperative efforts with the school staff, the students, the parents, the courts, and the communities’ social service organizations, the S.R.O. program strives to assist the schools with providing a safe school environment. We strive to hold juveniles responsible for their actions and prevent individual problems from developing into patterns of delinquency.

Program objectives:
  • Prevention of crime or delinquent behavior by juveniles in their assigned areas.
  • Friendly contact between the police department and the youth of the City of Lake Stevens.
  • Assistance and realistic information during times of stress and crisis.
  • Education of young people regarding the role of laws and courts, and police society.
  • Investigation of cases involving juveniles and use of effective alternatives to court.

Who are School Resource Officers?
School Resource Officers are all seasoned police officers that have been selected because of their ability to work effectively with different types of people, especially young people. Their time is divided between educational efforts in the schools, case investigations, court appearances, police training, and liaison work with other community service organizations.
