Executive

City Administrator

The City Administrator works under the general administrative direction of the Mayor and ensures operations run efficiently and are focused on the goals of the Mayor and City Council. The current focus is on economic development, revitalizing downtown, and enhancing parks and recreation.

The City Administrator acts as the Chief Executive Officer for the day-to-day operations of the City. Responsibilities include directing, administering, and coordinating the activities and functions of the various City departments, boards, and commissions, implementing the requirements of the City ordinances and the policies and goals of the City Council.

Implementation of these policies and goals requires a close working relationship with the citizens, community organizations, the private sector, and other governmental agencies.

As the City Administrator, Gene Brazel has been with the city since 2017, with 11 years of experience as a City Administrator and 35 years experience in municipal government.

Administrator Brazel sees his job as a cheerleader for the community and city staff.  Brazel believes in empowering his staff to be creative and work towards making dreams reality.  It’s important to have a vibrant community with activities for its members of all ages.  We see this with the improvements made in Lundeen Park, Eagle Ridge Park, and North Cove Park, including The Mill at North Cove Park, the future building and new location for the Lake Stevens Historical Museum, and the new festival street, Mill Spur.
