City of Lake Stevens 2025 Non-Profit Accomplishments

Community support of the February 2025 School Construction Bond: In February 2025, the community approved the LSSD School Construction Bond. Work is well underway to enhance facilities for student and staff safety, innovative teaching and learning practices, and community use. The LSSD is grateful for the shared commitment to educational spaces that support students today and help educate citizens and leaders of the future.

Another banner year for academics: In June 2025, 640 Vikings walked across the graduation stage, an on-time graduation rate of 93.6%. In English/Language Arts, 82.2% of students in grades 3-10 demonstrated foundational grade knowledge and above on state assessments, and 75.6% met that standard in math.

Viking champions: Lake Stevens High School students gave the community plenty to cheer about in 2025. The volleyball team earned the 4A State Championship, and football finished second in the state, and our eSports team finished third in state. This is a testament to hard work, teamwork, and the Viking spirit.

City and district partnership that brought winter fun to the community: The LSSD students helped add extra personality to winter through the city’s snowplow name/design initiative. Student creativity and community participation were on full display, including the winning design, painted by our LSHS Design Club students. This is just one example of partnership and collaboration.

Lake Stevens Community Resource Center (LSCRC)

Bank to School Event Impact: In August, the LSCRC hosted its annual Lake Stevens Back-to-School event. This year, LSCRC provided more than 416 local students with backpacks filled with essential school supplies. The day went far beyond handing out school supplies, and became a true community gathering, connecting families, volunteers and over twenty-three resource organizations. With food donated from the Lake Stevens Community Food Bank, everyone enjoyed a free lunch. The LSCRC was especially inspired by past clients who are now in a position to give back, as well as adults with disabilities who joined to strengthen their skills and build experience for future employment.

Holiday Season Support: The LSCRC successfully provided gifts to 267 youth within the city. Through coordinated toy drives, community partnerships, and generous donor support, LSCRC helped ease the financial burden on families during the holidays. With a dedicated staff of five, the team managed a high volume of client calls, intakes, and holiday coordination efforts as well as organized gift collection and distribution. This reflects the strength of the community and LSCRC's ongoing commitment to supporting families and creating moments of hope during the holiday season.

A Story of Resilience and Hope: After several years of housing instability, an LSCRC client committed himself to change and successfully transitioned into permanent housing through the support of the Housing Navigation Program and Supportive Resource Services at the LSCRC. His experience reflects both the complex challenges faced by many community members and the meaningful impact of consistent, coordinated support.

Lake Stevens Community Food Bank

The Lake Stevens Community Food Bank had 35,731 visits in 2025, averaging 687 families per week; and provided 1,356,113 pounds of food, an increase of 27.8% more food per visit over 2024.

In July, the food bank absorbed the Hungry Hearts Foundation as a program to provide weekend food to low-income students in the Lake Stevens School District. By increasing outreach and reducing barriers for families to apply, the food bank has increased the number of students being served by 63% and are adding more students each week.

At the end of October and early November, with community support, the food bank was able to meet the needs of those who temporarily lost their SNAP benefits and saw over 1,000 new families come to us in a time of uncertainty.

The food bank held their inaugural Festival of Trees event at The Mill in November. The event included a Community Day with free activities for over 300 kids and an Evening Jubilee raising almost $100,000 to feed local families.

Lake Stevens Senior Center

The senior center has increased membership and activity attendance over last year's totals.

The senior center hosts 20 regular weekly activities, plus multiple special events throughout the year. This wouldn’t be possible without the dedicated volunteers who show up every week, donating over 5,000 hours a year.

The senior center has enjoyed many trips throughout the year and started, what they hope will be some new annual traditions, such as the Open House in October. Some other special events this year, included Team Trivia & Name That Tune, St. Patty’s Open Mic & Talent Show, Spaghetti & Wine Dinner and a New Year’s Eve Gala.

In 2026, the Lake Stevens Senior Center looks forward to continuing to promote the well-being of seniors in the community!

Lake Stevens Historical Society

12301 North Lake Shore Drive, Lake Stevens I 253-261-8678 I lakestevenshistoricalsociety@gmail.com I Socials: Facebook and Instagram

The Lake Stevens Historical Society began 2025 attending the last half of the Volunteer Museum Learning Community training classes they have been selected for in 2024. Classes completed were Tribal consultation, managing facilities, finding and keeping good volunteers, and fundraising.

The historical society is excited to bring the community together to celebrate America’s 250 birthday; and are currently working on plans to connect with the community and hope to coordinate efforts with the City of Lake Stevens.

In June, the historical society hosted their general meeting and featured a book talk and signing by author Joan Rawlins Husby. Joan writes fiction and nonfiction set in the Pacific Northwest. Her works include “A Logger's Daughter”, “Hearts Gold” and its sequel “Better Than Gold”. Copies are available for $20 at the historical museum.

The historical society received a Snohomish County grant for $6,000 and provided $3,000 in-kind services to hire a professional, Chris Erlich, to assist in the design of two exhibits for the new museum: “Logging” and “They Came from afar”.

For Aquafest, the historical society hosted a pop-up museum in The Mill featuring an Aquafest display, photos with the famous chicken, and a raffle fundraiser with donations from local businesses.

The historical society maintains the Grimm House garden and was open for all park events and additional Saturdays. The historical society continues to provide hands-on items for children which are greatly appreciated by parents. Guests enjoyed the house decorated for fall and Christmas with many repeat visitors.

The historical museum is open on Thursdays for the community to drop off donations, share memories or family history, purchase books, postcards, Lake calendars or for Lake Stevens graduates to have their picture taken with their yearbook. Our Lake calendar for 2026 is beautiful and available for purchase.

The Lake Stevens Historical Society continues to work hard to raise funds to build exhibits in the new museum and ask the community to help us to “preserve Lake Stevens History for future generations.”
