The city received a request to vacate a portion of 123rd Ave NE. The interested party submitted an application and fees per city code. The city conducted traffic counts on 123rd and surrounding streets, in the current configuration, for seven days. Following this, 123rd Ave was temporarily closed, and traffic counts were collected for an additional seven days, so city staff could compare data and analyze potential impacts. No decisions or recommendations have been made. All traffic and application information along with written comments will be provided to the City Council should the matter move to a public hearing. Citizen testimony will be allowed if the matter goes to a public hearing.
We do not yet have a hearing date set, but it will be advertised in advance should the request move forward. Everyone who commented in writing has been placed on an email list and will receive future notices at specific points in the city process. Currently, the applicant still has some items to provide the city before it moves any further in the process, specifically scheduling a public hearing.
Thank you for your interest and comments on this land use request.
