Health Insurance

Medical


All Employees:
  • The City offers Regence HealthFirst 250, Regence High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP), Kaiser $200 Deductible, and Kaiser High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP).
  • For full-time employees, the City pays 100% of the premiums for employees and 90% for spouse or registered domestic partner and dependents. 
  • For part-time employees (0.5 - 0.99 FTE), the City pays 100% of the premium for the employee (spouse, registered domestic partner and dependents aren't eligible for coverage).
  • Coverage begins the first day of the month following employment.

Dental


Non-Represented Employees and Police Guild Employees:
  • The City offers Washington Dental Service and Willamette Dental.
  • For full-time employees, the City pays 100% of the premiums for employees and 90% for spouse or registered domestic partner and dependents.  
  • For part-time employees (0.5 - 0.99 FTE), the City pays 100% of of the premium for the employee (spouse, registered domestic partner and dependents aren't eligible for coverage).  
  • Coverage begins the first day of the month following employment.

Teamsters'-Represented Employees:


  • Teamsters offers Washington Teamster's Welfare Trust Dental Plan A.
  • The City pays 100% of the premiums for employee, spouse and dependent(s). 
  • Coverage begins the first day of the second month following 80 hours of employment.


Vision


Non-Represented Employees and Police Guild Employees: 
  • The City offers Vision Service Plan.
  • For full-time employees, the City pays 100% of the premiums for employee and their spouse or registered domestic partner and dependents.  
  • For part-time employees (0.5 - 0.99 FTE), the City pays 100% of of the premium for the employee (spouse, registered domestic partner and dependents aren't eligible). 
  • Coverage begins the first day of the month following employment.

Teamster's Represented Employees:

The City offers Washington Teamster's Welfare Trust Vision Plan EXT. The City pays 100% of the premiums for employee, spouse and dependent(s). Coverage begins the first day of the second month following 80 hours of employment.


Employee Assistance Program


The City offers an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). The EAP provides confidential assistance to employees and anyone living in their household.  The City pays 100% of the premiums.  


Health Savings Account (HSA)

Employees participating in a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) receive a contribution to their HSA, and have the option to contribute make additional pre-tax contributions directly from their salary.

Dual Coverage Medical Incentive with HRA/VEBA Contribution
A full-time employee who elects not to enroll in the city's medical plan, or whose family members choose not to enroll, may be eligible for a HRA/VEBA contribution.

Supplemental Insurance

Supplemental insurance plans including life insurance, short-term disability and supplemental dental insurance are available. Many of the plans feature pre-taxable benefits.

Washington State Industrial Insurance 


Employees are covered by Industrial Insurance through the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.
