Hours of Work
The normal workweek is 40 hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; however, most positions have alternate schedule options such as four 10-hour days, 9/10 schedule, and flexible start and end times. All positions have weekends off, except Police Officers. Police Officers work two-12 hour shifts, followed by one 10-hour shift, followed by three days off.
Regular employment status is subject to the successful completion of a twelve-month probation/orientation period*. During the probation/orientation period, your ability to fulfill the standards and expectations for the department and the City will be closely evaluated.
